QUẢNG NGÃI — The People’s Committee of Quảng Ngãi Province held a meeting on October 14, chaired by Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, to discuss solutions to obstacles facing two major projects in the Dung Quất Economic Zone.
The projects include the VSIP Quảng Ngãi Industrial, Urban and Service Park invested by VSIP Co., Ltd., and the Vạn Tường New Urban Area Commercial Housing Project invested by Doosan Enerbility Co., Ltd.
For the VSIP Quảng Ngãi project, the investor proposed two adjustments: reducing the total project area from 1,226 hectares to about 603 hectares due to site clearance difficulties, and extending the project implementation timeline to no more than 24 months from the date of land lease approval for the remaining and additional areas, instead of the previously planned 2013 completion.
Regarding the Vạn Tường Commercial Housing Project, the Dung Quất Economic Zone and Quảng Ngãi Industrial Parks Authority reported that the project covers 86 hectares, with land allocation and lease procedures under way.
However, 8.4 hectares remain problematic — including 0.8 hectares under land dispute pending court resolution, and 7.6 hectares of cleared land that must, under current regulations, be separated for public auction to select an investor.
The Authority emphasized that Doosan Enerbility is an early foreign investor with significant contributions to the province’s socio-economic development, and recommended that the provincial authorities promptly address difficulties and facilitate project implementation.
Concluding the meeting, Chairman Nguyễn Hoàng Giang reaffirmed the province’s commitment to supporting investors and instructed Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển to work closely with relevant departments to review regulations and advise the Provincial People’s Committee on solutions as soon as possible.
