On August 13, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Bùi Thị Quỳnh Vân, chaired the first meeting of the Steering Committee for site clearance of the North–South high-speed railway Project, section through Quảng Ngãi province.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, along with leaders of relevant departments, sectors, and localities.
According to the Director of the Department of Construction Nguyễn Phúc Nhân, the North–South High-speed Railway Project was approved by the National Assembly under Resolution No. 172/2024/QH15 dated November 30, 2024.

The project aims to meet transport demand, drive rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, leverage advantages along the North–South economic corridor, ensure effective East–West connectivity and regional integration, while safeguarding national defense, security, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation.
The project involves the construction of a new double-track railway with a gauge of 1,435 mm, designed for a speed of 350 km per hour and a load of 22.5 tons/axle, with 23 passenger stations and five freight stations.
The total investment is more than VNĐ 1,713,000 billion.
The section running through Quảng Ngãi province will be over 86 km long, passing through 16 communes and three wards, from Bình Minh to Khánh Cường commune. It will run parallel to the existing railway, National Highway 1, and the North–South Expressway, including 44 bridges, four tunnels, and other roadbed structures.
The site clearance subproject for this section is estimated at around VNĐ 11.379 trillion.
At the meeting, local leaders raised challenges in reviewing records, determining boundaries and project impact areas, as well as issues related to compensation, support, resettlement, and site clearance.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Giang urged close coordination among departments and localities in defining the route alignment and schedule for each component, ensuring consistency with actual conditions.
He also called for a detailed implementation plan with clear timelines.
Secretary Bùi Thị Quỳnh Vân requested the Provincial People’s Committee to promptly propose adjustments to station locations to the Prime Minister and Ministry of Construction to match local conditions, ensure land reserves, and accommodate surrounding development.

She also emphasized the need to finalize the Steering Committee’s working regulations, set implementation schedules in line with the Prime Minister’s deadlines, and ensure timely public communication so that residents will understand the significance of this national key project, fostering public consensus and support.
Furthermore, departments and localities were asked to carefully calculate material requirements to ensure adequate supply for the project.
