Quảng Ngãi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm on August 27 chaired a meeting with leaders of relevant departments, agencies, and localities to review issues related to the Quảng Ngãi – Hoài Nhơn section of the North–South Expressway (Eastern route).

According to the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, of 33 land clearance obstacles reported by contractors (including 18 newly arising cases), 21 have been resolved since July 15, while 12 remain.

For the rest stop at Km16+620, land clearance has been approved for 9.57 hectares, with contractors currently accessing 7.03 out of 12.12 hectares, equivalent to 58 per cent.

For additional and adjusted areas totaling 28.37 hectares, 20.53 hectares have been approved (72 per cent), and 21.87 hectares have been handed over (77 per cent).

Contractors reported challenges, including damage to local houses during construction, which has caused some residents to obstruct works.

The investor and contractors committed that all damages be inspected, assessed, and compensated in accordance with regulations, and requested further support from local authorities to encourage community cooperation.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm acknowledged the efforts of departments and localities in coordinating with the investor and contractors to address difficulties.

However, he stressed that land clearance progress remains slow and below requirements.

He requested strict compliance with the Provincial People’s Committee’s directives, written commitments from contractors on compensation timelines, and stronger coordination among agencies and local authorities to resolve issues promptly.

He emphasized that the Quảng Ngãi – Hoài Nhơn section is a national key project of strategic importance for infrastructure, trade, and investment.

Therefore, all stakeholders must focus resources, work closely together, and ensure the project will be completed on schedule as required by the Government, the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Construction.
