Quảng Ngãi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm on August 27 chaired a meeting to review the development of social housing in the province and provide directions for the coming period.
Leaders of relevant departments, sectors, and localities attended the meeting.
According to the Department of Construction, during 2024–2025, Quảng Ngãi has issued several policies to promote investment in social housing projects, including support mechanisms, regulations on project locations outside urban areas, and criteria for commercial housing projects in relation to social housing development.
The department has also published a list of 20 potential sites for social housing projects on the provincial e-portal to attract investment.
Under the national plan to build one million social housing and worker housing units for 2021–2030, Quảng Ngãi has been assigned to complete 8,500 units by 2030.
On August 18, 2025, the Provincial People’s Committee proposed that the Ministry of Construction adjust annual targets, while keeping the total goal unchanged—8,500 units by 2030, with 144 units to be completed by 2024 and 8,356 units during 2025–2030.
To date, 240 units of social housing have been completed and put into use, including 96 social housing units, 96 resettlement houses
The Department of Construction has also coordinated with the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Police to review land funds and introduce sites for housing projects serving the armed forces.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm emphasized that developing social housing is an important task to ensure social welfare, stabilize workers’ lives, and promote socio-economic growth.
He requested relevant departments, sectors, and localities to urgently prepare planning, resettlement support, and technical infrastructure development plans, while reviewing and addressing difficulties in project implementation.
He also urged continued efforts to attract investors to ensure the province will meet its assigned targets.
