Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People's Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, on May 8, chaired a meeting to implement the 2025 forest fire prevention and control (FFPC) plan.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has over 264,900 hectares of forest, with a forest coverage rate of 52.7 per cent in 2024.
Over 159,400 hectares are classified as high-risk fire areas.
At the meeting, local departments and agencies reviewed past FFPC efforts, identified challenges, and proposed solutions, focusing on raising public awareness, investing in firefighting equipment, and enhancing inter-agency coordination.
Vice Chairman Hiền emphasized the importance of proactive and coordinated measures, especially as extreme weather increases fire risks.
He called for focused 2025 plans, improved communication, tech-based forest management, and stronger collaboration across all levels.
