Promoting the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction

On March 28, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Tran Phuoc Hien, chaired a meeting to review reports from relevant departments and localities regarding the implementation results of the province's National Target Program for New Rural Construction, as well as the upcoming implementation plans.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Quang Ngai province currently has two districts, Nghia Hanh and Tu Nghia, recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting new rural standards for the period 2016-2020.

Additionally, 93 out of 144 communes (64.58 per cent ) meet new rural standards, with 10 communes achieving advanced new rural standards according to the criteria set for the period 2021-2025. Furthermore, 95 villages have been recognized as model rural residential areas.

The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program continues to be effectively implemented by localities and has become a key solution for rural economic development.

All districts, towns, and cities now have products, with 260 meeting OCOP standards.

Among these, two potential products have achieved 5-star OCOP status, 16 products are rated 4-star, and 242 products are classified as 3-star.

For the year 2025, the total planned capital for the new rural construction program is set at 650 billion VND.

Currently, the province has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for appraisal, seeking recognition for Quang Ngai City as having successfully built new rural areas and for Mo Duc district as meeting new rural standards in 2023.

The Vice Chairman emphasized the importance of the New Rural Development Program and urged departments and localities to show strong commitment to achieving its goals by 2025.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment was tasked with leading efforts to review and finalize necessary documents for the program.

The Vice Chairman also requested appraisal results for specific communes to be compiled and reviewed for potential recognition.

Additionally, he called for expedited progress and disbursement of funds for the program and stressed the importance of implementing the cement support mechanism for rural road construction.
