Immediately after the 22nd meeting of the National Steering Committee on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing on 18 November, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Đỗ Tâm Hiển chaired a meeting with departments and coastal localities to implement directives of the Prime Minister and the Provincial Chairman on IUU fishing prevention.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, as of 14 November 2025, Quảng Ngãi had 4.848 registered fishing vessels, including 4.729 licensed and active vessels, achieving a 100 per cent compliance rate. All vessel data has been fully updated into the VNFishbase system; 100 per cent of vessels have been registered, inspected and properly marked.
During the week, Border Guard, Police and coastal authorities strictly controlled vessel movements, with 28.144 arrivals and 28.249 departures recorded since the beginning of the year. Traceability procedures were implemented at five fishing ports, issuing 140 confirmation dossiers and 78 certification dossiers for over 4.500 tons of seafood.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển commended the proactive efforts of all units in data verification, vessel monitoring and communication with fishermen.

He requested the Provincial Military Command and the Border Guard Command to further strengthen at-sea vessel management, maintain round-the-clock monitoring and prevent any boundary violations.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with the Border Guard and localities, was directed to prohibit 119 non-compliant vessels from departing and guide owners in completing required documentation and equipment.
Coastal localities were urged to intensify communication with fishermen and maintain achieved results in combating IUU fishing, with accountability assigned for any recurring violations.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment was also tasked with preparing all necessary documents and datasets in readiness for potential EC inspection missions.
