Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển inspects landslide recovery efforts in Sơn Tây Hạ and Sơn Hà

On the afternoon of 17 November, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Đỗ Tâm Hiển inspected landslide recovery efforts on key road routes in Sơn Tây Hạ and Sơn Hà communes.

In Sơn Tây Hạ, recent heavy rains caused dozens of landslides. The most serious one occurred on road ĐH.83 (over 37 km long) at Km8+200 in Tà Vinh village, where a major landslide damaged about 50m of the upper slope and 40m of the lower slope, completely severing the road and isolating Sơn Tây Hạ commune, including its administrative center.

After the site inspection, Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển directed the Department of Construction, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and local authorities to urgently implement emergency repairs, aiming to reopen the road before the Lunar New Year. He also requested Sơn Tây Hạ Commune People’s Committee to closely monitor landslide risks, install warning signs, prevent residents from entering dangerous areas, and consider opening a temporary route for transporting essential goods.

In Sơn Hà, heavy rainfall on the evening of 16 November caused Nước Bao stream to rise sharply, washing away the abutment of Nước Bao Bridge and completely cutting off travel between Mang Nà and Nước Bao villages. Local authorities have deployed warning signs and are constructing a temporary bridge to ensure access for residents and students.

Vice Chairman Hiển requested the commune to maintain close monitoring and assign personnel to guide safe passage across the temporary bridge. He tasked the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Construction, and Sơn Hà Commune People’s Committee with promptly reporting to higher authorities and preparing a rapid recovery plan to restore traffic as soon as possible.
