Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, on May 8, chaired a meeting to review and provide feedback on the proposed adjustments to the Sand Dike, Wave Reduction, and Dredging Project for the access channel to the Sa Huỳnh Fishing Port Storm Shelter.
According to the Provincial Transportation Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project was approved by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee under Decision No. 1874/QĐ-UBND dated December 31, 2022.
The project includes the construction of a 300-meter northern sand and wave barrier, with a total investment of VND 250 billion.
The project is currently being implemented on schedule.
The northern dike component has been completed ahead of plan, while dredging works between points K0+560 and K1+00 are underway to ensure access for fishing vessels, with approximately 42,000m³ of dredged material cleared so far.
The Management Board has proposed adjustments to include an additional disposal site for dredged material and to add a component to repair and upgrade the existing southern dike, aiming to enhance the project's long-term effectiveness.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Trần Phước Hiền emphasized the need for close coordination between the project owner and consultants to clarify the legal, scientific, and practical basis for the proposed adjustments.
He tasked the Department of Agriculture and Environment with leading the coordination with Đức Phổ Town authorities and other relevant agencies to evaluate and propose the additional southern dike component and dredging solutions that are cost-effective, efficient, and environmentally compliant.
