Prime Minister chairs 17th meeting of Steering Committee for Key National Transport Projects

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, Head of the State Steering Committee for key national and transport infrastructure projects, on May 10 chaired the committee’s 17th meeting.

Vice Chairman of Quảng Ngãi Provincial People's Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, along with leaders of relevant departments and localities, attended from the Quảng Ngãi meeting point.

At the meeting, the Ministry of Construction and related agencies reported on the progress of key transport projects, highlighted obstacles, and proposed solutions to accelerate project implementation.

According to the Ministry of Construction, the Steering Committee oversees 37 key projects comprising 95 component projects, including 35 road projects and 2 aviation projects.

Since its establishment, the committee and the Prime Minister have held 16 meetings and conducted multiple field inspections to address difficulties and expedite progress.

Thanks to the efforts of ministries, agencies, and localities, many obstacles have been resolved, with significant improvements in construction progress.

To date, 19 projects or components have been completed and put into operation, notably 16 expressway routes that increased the total national expressway length from 1,327 km to 2,268 km, as well as the Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport Terminal T3 connection route and terminal.

Currently, 52 projects or components are under construction, generally meeting planned schedules.

Following the 16th meeting, the Prime Minister assigned 33 tasks, of which 26 have been completed on time, 2 are ongoing as regular tasks, while 5 tasks remain behind schedule.

In his conclusion, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính emphasized the importance of these projects, which support the country's three strategic breakthroughs, serve local development, and are key drivers to achieving 8 per cent economic growth in 2025 and double-digit growth in the years ahead.

The Prime Minister called for the highest level of responsibility from all levels, mobilizing the entire political system to accelerate progress, especially land clearance.

Ministries and agencies are also required to proactively inspect, monitor, and regularly review and address difficulties related to the projects.
