Quảng Ngãi, May 27 - the Provincial People’s Council (13th tenure, 2021–2026) held its 35th meeting (thematic session) to review and approve major zoning plans in the Dung Quất Economic Zone.
The meeting was chaired by Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council, Bùi Thị Quỳnh Vân, and Vice Chairman of the People’s Council, Nguyễn Cao Phúc.
Based on the proposal by the Provincial People’s Committee and after thorough discussion, the Council approved two significant sub-zoning plans (1/2000 scale):
Dung Quat II Urban-Industrial-Service Zone (approx. 1,496 ha across Bình Tân Phú and Tịnh Phong communes), designed to support high-tech, environmentally friendly industries integrated with urban and service functions.
Eastern Dung Quat Industrial Zone (approx. 3,731 ha in Bình Đông, Bình Thuận, and Bình Trị communes), focused on heavy industries such as oil and gas, steelmaking, shipbuilding, and logistics linked to Dung Quất Port.
Modern infrastructure will ensure clear separation of industrial and residential areas, with emphasis on environmental protection and harmonious urban design.
Concluding the 35th session, Chairwoman of the Quảng Ngãi People’s Council Bùi Thị Quỳnh Vân highlighted that this is a pivotal period for finalizing the restructuring of district-level and commune-level administrations ahead of official implementation on July 1, 2025.
She stressed that urban and industrial planning projects must be carried out in tandem with organizational consolidation to ensure effective socio-economic development.
The Chairwoman called on the Provincial People's Committee, departments, and localities to urgently implement assigned political tasks, resolve emerging challenges, and prioritize key projects.
She underscored the importance of meeting public investment disbursement targets, maintaining growth indicators, and improving quality of life.
She also instructed strict adherence to central directives on combating smuggling, counterfeiting, and intellectual property violations, along with appropriate COVID-19 prevention measures.
Additionally, she requested timely completion of the public consultation summary on constitutional amendments, to be submitted to the Government and National Assembly before May 31, 2025.
Vân noted that by the end of May 2025, the Provincial Party Standing Committee will approve leadership personnel for 55 communes and Lý Sơn Special Zone.
