On July 10, the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) held a meeting with the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) to review its operations in the first six months. Vice Chairman of the PPC Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm chaired the meeting.

The leader of the DoST stated that the province concretized the Politburo's Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation with Action Plan No. 359 of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Decision No. 327 of the Provincial People's Committee
The Steering Committee on Science, Technology Development, Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Project 06 held its first session, unifying key tasks and assigning responsibilities to departments, sectors, and localities.

Information technology infrastructure is invested synchronously. 100 per cent of villages and hamlets have 3G and 4G waves, and 5G network covers urban areas and industrial clusters with 58 BTS stations.
The provincial data center has officially been put into operation, with nearly 60 information systems and databases being effectively exploited.
The rate of full and partial online public services reached nearly 80 per cent.
The province currently has over 2,720 digital technology companies, with more than 81 per cent using e-contracts.
Many big enterprises in the Dung Quất Economic Zone are pioneering the application of IoT, Big Data, and AI technologies in production and business.
After the merger, the DoST has five specialized sub-departments and three affiliated centers, ensuring the requirements of state management in the new period.

The DoST is currently managing 30 provincial-level science and technology tasks, including 20 ongoing projects and 10 undergoing post-evaluation procedures. Additionally, the Department has provided technological appraisal input for 66 investment projects across the province.
By June 30, 2025, Quảng Ngãi province had established over 26,000 official email accounts, issued electronic identifiers for agencies and units, and created more than 9,100 accounts to support the operation of the document and administration management system.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm, commended the achievements of the DoST in the first half of the year, and said that despite challenges, the sector has made strong efforts to overcome difficulties and effectively implement tasks in line with directives from central and provincial authorities, contributing to the smooth operation of the two-tier local government system after the merger.
The PPC’s Vice Chairman emphasized the province's commitment to prioritizing budget investment in science and technology, urging the Department to further promote its role, accelerate task implementation, and especially apply science and technology in agricultural production, with a focus on developing typical local products.

In the coming time, the DoST is tasked with proactively reviewing and proposing amendments, supplements, or new legal documents to improve the framework for science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the province.
