Recently, the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command delegation led by Colonel Nguyen Ra, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command, has organized a program of medical examination and treatment, and free medicine distribution for poor people in Champasak province, Lao PDR.
The delegation, including doctors from the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Health Department, and Economic Group 206 (Military Region 5), organized general medical examination activities and provided free medicine to treat diseases such as blood pressure, cardiovascular, respiratory, bone, ear, nose and throatfor more than 1,000 people.
In addition, the delegation advised local people on health, ways to prevent and avoid some diseases such as malaria, skin diseases, and diseases in children and women. They also instructed local people on how to keep the living environment clean, eat cooked food and drink boiled water to repel epidemics.
Along with providing medical examinations for the people, the working group also supported the cost of repairing houses for 12 poor households and soldiers of the Champasak Provincial Military Command who are in especially difficult circumstances. Additionally, the delegation presented 150 gifts and more than 1,000 bags of medicine to the people with a total cost of 500 million VND.
It is seen as a significant program of the Vietnamese Army sent to the people who are still facing many difficulties in Champasak province – a sister locality of Quang Ngai province.
The volunteer working trip left a good impression in the hearts of the people of the neighboring country, contributing to deepening the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
