International scientific conference: The role of diplomacy in creating peace in history and the present

 

On the morning of April 23, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an international scientific conference "50 years of national reunification: The role of diplomacy in creating peace in history and the present".

About 300 delegates attended the workshop, including Member of the Politburo, President Lương Cường; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn. leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors, leaders and researchers of units within the Ministry, historical witnesses, domestic and international scientists, representatives of foreign diplomatic agencies, and  representatives of leaders of ministries, departments, and localities across the nation.

At the Quảng Ngãi online bridge point, Huỳnh Thị Phương Hoa, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference with the participation of civil servants of the Foreign Affairs Division and related units.

Attending and speaking at the workshop, Member of the Politburo, President Lương Cường emphasized that the role of Vietnamese diplomacy in creating peace has been demonstrated throughout history, from the struggle for national liberation, national reunification to building and developing the country in peace. Diplomacy has made an important contribution to the country's reconstruction, successfully implementing the foreign policy in the renovation period, opening up a favorable foreign situation for national construction and defense.

The conference includes two sessions: Vietnamese diplomacy and the historic victory of April 30, 1975; and the role of diplomacy in promoting dialogue, resolving disputes, and building peace in the current situation, with many presentations by scholars and historical witnesses from Vietnam and internationally.

At the conference, the presentations of the delegates provided a lot of information, analyzed and explained many issues, suggested and proposed many valuable directions, in which they reaffirmed the great contributions of diplomacy in the cause of national reunification of Vietnam.

The delegates also shared international experiences and practices in protecting and promoting peace, resolving conflicts in the region and internationally. There were many lessons learned from the practice of national reunification of Vietnam such as healing the wounds of war, putting the past behind, and looking towards the future. Additionally, they suggested many initiatives and contents that Vietnamese diplomacy can participate in, contributing to promoting peace and stability in the region.
