QUẢNG NGÃI, Sept 30 – Authorities in Quảng Ngãi province have called for faster implementation of the Kon Plong wind power project after years of delays.
The 103.5-megawatt project, invested by Kon Plong Wind Energy Co., Ltd, was first approved in 2021 with an investment of VNĐ 3.5 trillion (US$143 million).
Covering 66 hectares with 25 turbines, the project was originally scheduled for completion by April 2023 but has yet to break ground due to legal and procedural obstacles.
The project was included in Việt Nam’s revised Power Development Plan VIII in April 2025 and is slated to operate between 2025 and 2030.
At a meeting chaired by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền on Monday, the investor pledged to accelerate work and requested adjustments to its investment license, including project details and grid connection plans.
Hiền said the province would support the investor in removing bottlenecks and urged relevant agencies to expedite reviews so that legal procedures can be completed.
He also asked the investor to finalize turbine and transmission line locations on site and prepare a clear implementation schedule.
