On October 7, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Y Ngọc had a working session with Mô Rai Commune to review socio-economic development, national defense, and security in the first nine months of 2025 and outline key tasks for the coming period.
Over the first nine months of 2025, following the implementation of the two-tier government model, Mô Rai commune swiftly stabilized its organizational structure and effectively carried out development targets set by the local Party Congress.
The commune, which borders Cambodia for 21 km and has over 70 per cent ethnic minority population, has achieved 14 out of 19 new rural criteria, eliminated temporary and dilapidated houses, and disbursed nearly 55 per cent of funds from national target programs. Agriculture, trade, and services have shown steady growth, while social welfare, education, and digital transformation programs have been implemented effectively.
However, Mô Rai still faces challenges such as degraded infrastructure, limited funding, and shortage of human resources.
At the meeting, the commune proposed that the province extend the capital recovery period for livelihood projects, allocate funding for infrastructure repairs and school construction, and issue regulations on staff management and decentralization.
Vice Chairwoman Y Ngọc commended the commune’s solidarity and efforts, urging Mô Rai to focus on developing key economic models, applying science and technology in production, building linkages with enterprises, and developing collective economies and cooperatives tied to trade and services.
She also emphasized forest protection, payment for forest environmental services, and development of community-based cultural tourism linked with traditional heritage preservation.
Relevant departments were requested to coordinate in addressing local difficulties, ensuring sufficient medical staff in ethnic and border areas, promoting cultural preservation, and maintaining security and national defense to support Mô Rai’s sustainable development.
