QUẢNG NGÃI — Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền on October 3 inspected the construction progress and disaster prevention measures at the Đăk Đrinh 2 and Trà Khúc 2 hydropower projects.
He was accompanied by leaders from provincial departments of Industry and Trade, Construction, Finance, Agriculture and Environment, as well as local authorities.
The Đăk Đrinh 2 Hydropower Plant, located in Sơn Hà and Sơn Tây communes, is invested by Quảng Ngãi Energy JSC with a capacity of 21MW (two turbines), an average annual output of 61.64 million kWh, and a total investment of nearly VNĐ 780 billion.
Construction began in June 2025 and has so far completed major works including dam foundation excavation, spillway sections, and partial water diversion for the powerhouse.
The Trà Khúc 2 Hydropower Plant, located in Sơn Linh Commune is invested by Trà Khúc 2 Hydropower JSC with a capacity of 30MW (three turbines), an annual output of 122.43 million kWh, and an investment of more than VNĐ1.1 trillion.
Launched in 2024, the project has reached about 60 per cent of construction volume. Equipment procurement has been 80 per cent completed domestically and 30 per cent internationally.
It is scheduled for completion and trial operation by the third quarter of 2026.
Vice Chairman Hiền commended the determination and capacity of investors, stressing the importance of energy projects, including hydropower, for the province’s future development.
He called on relevant departments and localities to provide timely legal and administrative support, address site clearance and compensation issues, and promote communication to secure public consensus.
He also urged investors to strictly follow approved schedules, work closely with authorities, and develop comprehensive disaster prevention plans, including technical halts during storms, to ensure the safety of workers, facilities, and downstream communities.
