On 13 November, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Đỗ Tâm Hiển chaired a meeting with relevant departments and agencies to review and provide guidance on the proposed harvesting plan for plantation production forests under the State ownership managed by Kon Rẫy Forestry Company.

Kon Rẫy Forestry Company, headquartered in Kon Braih commune, is assigned to manage, maintain, and develop State-owned plantation production forests. The plantations consist mainly of three-needle pine, planted in 2000 with investment approved by the former Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committee (now Quảng Ngãi province).
According to the 2024 forest status map and the harvesting design map, the harvesting area is located in Đăk Kôi commune. The total area is 26.46 ha, harvested by clear-cutting. An estimated 13,644 trees will be felled, with a total standing-wood volume of 6,105.247 cubic meters, including 4,578.935 cubic meters of commercial timber and 872.177 ster of fuelwood. Harvesting is planned from 1 October 2025 to 31 May 2026.

The Vice Chairman instructed the company to clarify key issues including forest planting and protection responsibilities; economic and environmental efficiency based on previous years’ implementation; and assessments of financial viability, environmental landscape, geological impacts, and climate-related factors. A complete report must be submitted to the Provincial People’s Committee (via the Department of Agriculture and Environment) before 30 November.
