QUẢNG NGÃI — The 1ˢᵗ Provincial Trade Union Congress of Quảng Ngãi for the 2025–2030 term was held on December 29 at the Provincial Labour Culture House, marking an important milestone in the organisation and operation of trade unions in the province.
The congress was attended by Vice President of the Việt Nam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) Huỳnh Thanh Xuân; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Deputies’ Delegation and Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee U Huấn; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Công Hoàng; along with representatives of provincial departments, agencies and localities. More than 260 delegates represented trade union members, workers and employees across the province.
Trade unions at all levels in Quảng Ngãi made strong efforts to adapt proactively to new requirements and basically fulfilled key targets and tasks, contributing to the province’s sustainable socio-economic development.
The organisation of trade unions continued to be strengthened, reaffirming their role in representing, caring for and protecting the lawful and legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.
Leadership and implementation work was carried out flexibly to suit practical conditions. The scale of the organisation expanded, the quality of several areas of work improved, and many effective models and innovative practices with strong spillover effects were developed and positively recognised by workers, Party committees, authorities and employers.
Following organisational restructuring, the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Labour Federation now has more than 88,280 members.
It has established three commune- and ward-level trade unions and directly manages over 390 grassroots trade unions with more than 85,710 members.
Over the past three years, more than 44,880 new members have been recruited and 77 new grassroots trade unions have been established.
Addressing the congress, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee U Huấn praised and acknowledged the efforts and achievements of trade unions and workers in the province.
He stressed the need to further promote the strength of each union member to contribute to the national goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030.
He called for continued effective implementation of the Party’s viewpoints on the working class and trade unions, accelerated development of union members and organisations, particularly in the non-state sector, improved political and ideological education, and strong renewal of trade union activities with workers placed at the centre.
Vice President of the VGCL Huỳnh Thanh Xuân congratulated and commended the notable achievements of Quảng Ngãi’s trade unions, expressing his hope that they would continue to receive close leadership and support to better care for workers in the coming period.
The congress also announced decisions appointing the Executive Committee of the provincial Labour Federation for the 2025–2030 term, comprising 26 members, and appointing Đinh Quốc Tuấn as Chairman.
A delegation of nine official and two alternate delegates was also designated to attend the 14ᵗʰ National Trade Union Congress for the 2026–2031 term.
