Quang Ngai province in the Central Coast region has a diverse agricultural ecosystem that attracts swiftlets for breeding, leading to a growing birds nest industry.
The province now has over 665 birds nest farms, producing around 2 tons of nests per year, with a selling price of 18-20 million VND/kg.
Despite the industry's success, there are challenges in planning, production, quality management, and brand building.
The spontaneous construction of birds nest houses has led to difficulties in management, affecting the region's socio-economy, security, and environmental sanitation.
At the conference, units and enterprises exchanged and discussed the current situation, potential, opportunities, challenges and solutions to overcome difficulties, moving towards forming a product chain from production, processing, consumption, meeting the needs of the domestic and export markets.
On this occasion, production and business establishments and bird nest farmers in the province signed cooperation agreements with businesses consuming bird nest products.
