MoAE holds a national online conference
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MoAE) held a national online conference on July 2 to review performance in the first six months of 2026 and set key tasks for the remainder of the year.
The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Quốc Dũng and Minister of Agriculture and Environment Trịnh Việt Hùng.
Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền chaired the meeting at the Quảng Ngãi bridge point.
Reports showed that in the first half of 2026, the agriculture and environment sector closely followed the directions of the Government and the Prime Minister, proactively and synchronously implementing key tasks under the guiding principle of “discipline and responsibility, proactive efficiency, innovation, breakthrough acceleration, and sustainable growth.”
The sector focused on institutional improvement, administrative reform, decentralisation and delegation of authority, as well as enhancing state management efficiency.
Efforts were also made to respond to market fluctuations, implement major sector programmes, and strengthen production and environmental management.
Agriculture, forestry and fisheries production remained stable, with sector GDP growth estimated at 3.8–3.85 per cent, exceeding the target of 3.7 per cent.
Export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached approximately US$ 35.88 billion, up 6 per cent year-on-year.
Key initiatives included the implementation of the one-million-hectare high-quality, low-emission rice project in the Mekong Delta, strengthened disease control in crops and livestock, strict enforcement of measures against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and proactive responses to natural disasters, droughts and saltwater intrusion.
Digital transformation in land, natural resources and environmental management was also accelerated.
For the second half of 2026, the sector aims to comprehensively fulfil all targets and tasks for the year.
Priorities include institutional and policy improvement, stronger agricultural growth linked to green and digital transformation, development of agricultural markets and competitiveness, enhanced natural resource management and environmental protection, and improved climate change adaptation and disaster resilience.
The sector will also accelerate the development and completion of its data infrastructure, improve administrative reform quality, and strengthen coordination between central and local authorities.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Quốc Dũng praised the sector’s achievements in the first half of the year while pointing out remaining shortcomings that need to be addressed.
He urged the entire sector to implement key tasks decisively and synchronously in the second half, striving for at least 4 per cent sector growth, in line with Government targets.
He emphasised the need to prioritise institutional improvement, legal frameworks and sector planning, while accelerating administrative reform, digital transformation, and the development and use of data systems for state management.
The Deputy Prime Minister also called for stronger implementation of Resolution No. 57, with a focus on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation to create strategic sector products.
He stressed the importance of boosting production, processing and export of agricultural products and intensifying efforts to lift the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning on IUU fishing.
He further requested closer coordination between ministries, sectors and localities to remove obstacles and ensure effective and timely implementation of national target programmes.
