On July 30, a delegation from the National Boundary Commission under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Vice Chairperson Trần Trường Thủy, held a working session with the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Steering Committee for Border Affairs.

Representing the Provincial Steering Committee were Nguyễn Văn Điệu, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Standing Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Border Affairs, along with representatives of relevant agencies, units, and authorities from land border, coastal communes and Lý Sơn Special Zone.
Vice Chairperson Trần Trường Thủy noted that following the administrative restructuring and the implementation of the two-tier local government model, Quảng Ngãi now oversees a larger area with land border areas and maritime and island regions. This has created new requirements for safeguarding national sovereignty and border security.

He commended the province's proactive efforts in consolidating its Steering Committee and maintaining effective coordination among relevant agencies and local authorities.
He also urged the Provincial Steering Committee to further strengthen public communication on the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws regarding territorial borders and maritime affairs, enhance information sharing and inter-agency coordination, and promptly advise on emerging issues to help safeguard national sovereignty and border security while supporting local socio-economic development.
At the working session, Nguyễn Văn Điệu presented a report on the province's border affairs in the first six months of 2026 and outlined priorities for the remainder of the year.

Key areas included land border management, addressing outstanding border issues with Cambodia, managing cross-border movement and immigration, maintaining security and order in border areas, promoting cross-border cooperation and transport connectivity, facilitating trade and commercial exchanges, strengthening legal awareness on border issues, and raising challenges encountered during implementation.
On behalf of the Provincial Steering Committee for Border Affairs, Nguyễn Văn Điệu expressed appreciation for the guidance and support provided by the National Boundary Commission. He affirmed that Quảng Ngãi would fully incorporate the delegation's recommendations and continue close coordination with central ministries and agencies to effectively safeguard national sovereignty over its borders and maritime areas, contributing to national defense, security, and the province's sustainable development.
