Vice chairman Trần Phước Hiền urges local authorities to accelerate public investment disbursement
QUẢNG NGÃI — Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trần Phước Hiền has called on Đông Sơn Commune to fully tap its local strengths, accelerate public investment disbursement and improve public services to achieve its socio-economic development targets for 2026.
The remarks were made during a working session with the commune's People's Committee on Wednesday afternoon to review socio-economic performance, national defence and security in the first half of the year, and discuss key priorities for the remaining six months.

According to the commune's report, Đông Sơn maintained stable socio-economic development and ensured national defence and security during the first half of 2026.
Agricultural production recorded positive results, while livestock diseases remained under control thanks to effective prevention measures.
Land acquisition and site clearance for investment projects were carried out on schedule, budget revenue exceeded targets, and military recruitment fulfilled the province's assigned quota.
The commune's total production value reached VNĐ1.958 trillion in the first six months, equivalent to 65.7 per cent of the annual target.
Agriculture accounted for VNĐ1.053 trillion, meeting 71.7 per cent of the yearly plan, while industry and construction generated VNĐ486 billion, or 57.3 per cent of the target.
Trade and services contributed VNĐ419 billion, achieving 63.1 per cent.
Đông Sơn was allocated more than VNĐ3.5 billion in public investment capital for 2026. As of mid-July, more than VNĐ538.5 million had been disbursed.
The commune aims to disburse over 50 per cent of the allocated capital by early August and 90 per cent by September 2026.
The commune also implemented social welfare policies for people with meritorious service in a timely and accurate manner, organised cultural activities during the Lunar New Year holiday, and completed preparations for the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure as scheduled.
At the meeting, local authorities proposed that the province allocate funding for the restoration and preservation of the Đám Toái National Historical Tunnels, with the aim of developing the site into a historical and tourism destination linked to attractions in the province's eastern coastal area.
They also requested additional teaching staff for local schools, investment in a bridge connecting Đông Sơn Commune with Tịnh Kỳ Commune, and support for expanding the Phượng Hoàng public cemetery.

Concluding the meeting, Hiền commended the commune's achievements and urged local authorities to maintain solidarity, initiative and innovation in fulfilling the year's development goals.
He called for more effective implementation of the 2026 work programme, greater use of local advantages to develop the marine economy and tourism, stronger trade promotion to expand markets for agricultural and seafood products, and sustainable fisheries development in line with regulations against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The Vice Chairman also instructed the commune to speed up public investment disbursement, prioritise transport, rural infrastructure and social welfare projects, and resolve outstanding issues related to land use right certificates.
He emphasised the need to listen closely to residents' concerns, promptly address legitimate petitions, ensure the effective implementation of social welfare policies, strengthen administrative reform and discipline, and maintain political security and social order across the locality.
