On August 15, in Quảng Ngãi, Politburo Member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc led a government delegation in a working session with the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board on socio-economic development, double-digit growth targets, public investment disbursement, the two-tier local government model, and key tasks and development orientations for the coming period.

At the working session, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Đức Tâm reported that despite challenges posed by the province’s large area, difficult terrain and incomplete East-West connectivity, Quảng Ngãi has achieved positive results.

GRDP grew an estimated 8.55 per cent in the first six months of 2026, while industrial production increased 14.1 per cent in the first seven months. State budget revenue exceeded VNĐ21.4 trillion, up 11.4 per cent year on year, and more than 1,000 new businesses were established.
Tourism also continued to recover, with about 4.5 million visitors recorded in the first seven months and revenue of nearly VNĐ4 trillion. Destinations such as Măng Đen and Lý Sơn remained attractive to visitors.
After one year of operating under the two-tier local government model, the provincial administrative apparatus has remained basically stable and uninterrupted.
Quảng Ngãi identified key priorities for the coming period, including achieving 9 per cent GRDP growth in 2026, accelerating public investment disbursement, resolving long-standing projects, improving the investment environment, and promoting the potential of Dung Quất Economic Zone, Bờ Y International Border Gate Economic Zone, marine economy, logistics, industry, high-tech agriculture and tourism.
The province also proposed that the Government and central ministries help address difficulties related to developing Dung Quất into a national oil refining and energy center, developing Lý Sơn into a national marine-island tourism hub, investing in the Quảng Ngãi - Kon Tum expressway and the North-South high-speed railway, developing the Dung Quất gas-power project chain, and the Măng Đen Airport.

In his concluding remarks, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc highly appreciated Quảng Ngãi’s achievements, particularly in industry, budget revenue, investment attraction, tourism, administrative reform and the operation of the two-tier local government model.

He emphasized that Quảng Ngãi has considerable development space and advantages in marine economy, industry, seaports, logistics, tourism and connectivity with the Central Highlands. The province needs a new development mindset, renew its growth model, maximize its post-reorganization potential and strengthen linkages among regions, economic zones and sectors to create new growth drivers.
The Deputy Prime Minister urged Quảng Ngãi to focus on economic growth, public investment disbursement and improving the investment and business environment; promote Dung Quất Economic Zone, industry, energy, logistics, marine economy and high-quality tourism; and accelerate science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.

He also stressed the need to prioritize strategic infrastructure, particularly East-West transport links, the Quảng Ngãi - Kon Tum expressway, the North-South high-speed railway, seaport and aviation infrastructure, thereby expanding development space and strengthening regional connectivity.
For the province’s proposals, he asked central ministries and agencies to proactively coordinate and advise on solutions, particularly measures within the authority of the Government and the Prime Minister, with the aim of removing difficulties and creating favorable conditions for Quảng Ngãi’s development.
