Coffee planting model in Kon Plông Commune

According to a report from the People’s Committee of Kon Plông Commune, the locality is currently implementing several projects to support the development of coffee and durian cultivation across local villages. In Điék Chè, Măng Krí, Đíek Tem, and Vi Glơng villages, projects are in the land preparation stage, with planting expected to begin in July 2026.

Alongside expanding key crop areas, Kon Plông Commune is promoting commodity agriculture and high-tech farming linked with production and product consumption chains.

A notable example is the cold-climate vegetable cultivation model operated by Trường Sơn Đông Agriculture - Tourism Cooperative. The cooperative has invested in four greenhouses covering a total area of 3,000 sq.m and installed drip irrigation systems for the cultivation of leafy vegetables, bell peppers, cucumbers, Japanese pumpkins, potatoes, and other crops.

The model has provided encouraging initial results, helping diversify crop structures, improve production value per unit area, reduce weather- and pest-related risks, and gradually establish a high-tech agricultural production zone in the locality.

At Vi Choong village, Đông Trường Sơn Clean Tea Cooperative has standardized production processes toward VietGAP and organic practices, invested in machinery and facilities, and expanded raw material areas to more than 120 hectares, creating stable employment for around 40–50 local workers. Products including Đông Trường Sơn clean tea, Măng Đen clean tea, A Hội oolong tea, rose herbal tea, and chrysanthemum tea have been recognized as 3-star OCOP products.

Coffee cultivation in the commune has also continued to expand. The area of newly planted and replanted coffee has reached 228.8 hectares, concentrated in Hiếu, Pờ Ê, and Ngọk Tem areas. Newly cultivated areas have shown stable growth, with local farmers gradually adopting technical measures for sustainable production.

Durian cultivation in the Ngọk Tem area has also shown promising early results, with cumulative newly planted areas reaching 17.5 hectares. The expansion contributes to crop restructuring, more efficient land use, and the development of commodity production linked with market consumption.

Kon Plông Commune currently has 11 cooperatives operating in crop production, focusing on coffee, tea, fruit trees, vegetables, and other key crops. These cooperatives are increasingly strengthening production linkages, supporting farmers in accessing technology and expanding market opportunities.

Under its development orientation, Kon Plông Commune will continue expanding production areas, developing local specialty products, and attracting investment in agriculture. Several enterprises have already conducted surveys and explored opportunities in sectors such as South American banana cultivation, pineapple production, medicinal plants, tourism development, and cold-climate specialty crops.

During the inspection, Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển acknowledged and commended the efforts of local authorities, cooperatives, and residents in developing effective agricultural production models, particularly in crop restructuring and promoting commodity agriculture linked with processing, branding, and experiential tourism.

He called on relevant agencies and localities to maximize advantages in climate and soil conditions to develop high-value crops in conjunction with forest protection; strengthen value-chain production linkages; promote science and technology applications; and expand markets to support sustainable agricultural development and improve local livelihoods.

He also requested local authorities to enhance support for cooperatives and residents in learning from successful production models and applying suitable practices based on local conditions, while gradually building large-scale production areas associated with product branding and OCOP development.
