QUẢNG NGÃI — Finance Minister Ngô Văn Tuấn has pledged that the Ministry of Finance will provide maximum support within its authority to help Quảng Ngãi develop into an important growth hub in central Việt Nam.
Minister Tuấn made the statement during a working session with Quảng Ngãi authorities on August 27 to review the province’s socio-economic performance since the beginning of 2026 and discuss key tasks for the coming months.
According to a report presented at the meeting, Quảng Ngãi’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP), calculated at constant 2020 prices, was estimated at VNĐ74.38 trillion in the first six months of 2026, up 8.55 per cent year-on-year.
The province ranked third among six localities in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands and 18th among 34 provinces and cities nationwide.
State budget revenue reached an estimated VNĐ23.95 trillion in the first eight months of the year, equivalent to 71.2 per cent of the central government-assigned estimate and up 11.5 per cent year-on-year.
Public investment disbursement stood at about VNĐ2.8 trillion as of August 20, or 36.2 per cent of the 2026 plan.
The province is stepping up measures to accelerate disbursement in the remaining months of the year.
Quảng Ngãi is also working to resolve difficulties facing 111 delayed and stagnant projects.
The province aims to complete the handling of all these projects by November 2026.
The province has set a target of achieving 9 per cent GRDP growth in 2026, in line with the target assigned by the Government, as a foundation for achieving double-digit growth during 2026–30.
At the meeting, Quảng Ngãi proposed that the Ministry of Finance support the development of the national refining, petrochemical and energy centre at the Dung Quất Economic Zone and turn Lý Sơn Special Zone into a national marine and island tourism centre.
The province also called for support for key transport infrastructure projects, including the Quảng Ngãi–Kon Tum expressway, National Highway 24 and the Dung Quất–Sa Huỳnh coastal road, as well as funding for land administration, social welfare, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.
Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Committee Secretary Hồ Văn Niên affirmed Quảng Ngãi possesses considerable room for development, with the Dung Quất Economic Zone and industrial parks serving as key growth drivers.
The province also has potential for wind and solar power development in its western areas and is working to strengthen coastal and regional connectivity.
He asked the Ministry of Finance to support resources for transport infrastructure, particularly the upgrading of National Highway 24, construction of the Quảng Ngãi–Kon Tum expressway and completion of coastal roads by 2030.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Ngô Văn Tuấn stated that Quảng Ngãi is moving in the right direction and has identified clear development priorities and growth drivers.
He urged the province to make better use of its potential and advantages while proactively removing bottlenecks, especially those related to infrastructure and resources.
The minister highlighted the province’s strong potential in the marine economy.
In addition to fishing and seafood exploitation, he encouraged Quảng Ngãi to develop large-scale, collective and insured marine farming linked with processing and markets.
He also called on the province to make better use of its marine resources to develop tourism and attract more international visitors.
Regarding Quảng Ngãi’s proposals, Minister Tuấn welcomed plans to develop the refining, petrochemical and energy centre at Dung Quất Economic Zone and promote Lý Sơn as a marine, ecological, historical and cultural tourism destination.
He affirmed that the Ministry of Finance would work closely with relevant ministries and agencies to propose appropriate mechanisms, policies and resource allocations, helping Quảng Ngãi become an important growth hub in central Việt Nam.
