In Tu Mơ Rông, widespread heavy rain and strong winds from August 20-21, caused by a tropical depression, triggered multiple landslides and road subsidence. Along National Highway 40B, four landslides occurred with more than 1,035 cubic meters of soil and rock displaced, along with two road subsidence sites. Several landslides were also reported along the Văn Rơi Pass bypass. No casualties or agricultural losses were reported.

In Măng Ri, prolonged heavy rain damaged the roofs of 16 households and caused a slope failure near Ba Khen village, affecting 28 households. A major landslide along the ATK road from Mô Za village to Tân village caused an estimated 10,000 cubic meters of soil to spill onto the roadway, disrupting traffic. Three other landslide sites were also reported.

Local authorities have mobilized on-site forces to assist affected residents, clear landslides and maintain traffic, following the “four on-site” principle.

After inspecting the affected areas, Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển commended local authorities for their proactive response and requested them to closely monitor weather developments and maintain timely communication through disaster-prevention Zalo groups.

He stressed that protecting residents’ lives must be the top priority. People living in areas at risk of landslides must be evacuated promptly, with local authorities held responsible if casualties occur. For the 28 households affected in Ba Khen village, Măng Ri commune, the local authority was asked to develop a relocation plan and coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to assess suitable resettlement sites.

He also requested road management and construction units to deploy personnel for traffic control at vulnerable locations and mobilize maximum resources and equipment to quickly clear landslides and ensure safe, uninterrupted traffic.
