QUẢNG NGÃI — Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền on January 8 held a working session with the Standing Board of the Ya Ly Commune Party Committee and the commune administration to review socio-economic development, national defence-security, and Party building in 2025, and to set key tasks for 2026.
Leaders of relevant provincial departments and local authorities also attended the meeting.
Established in June 2025 following the merger of Ya Ly, Ya Tang and Ya Xier communes under a National Assembly Standing Committee resolution, Ya Ly is a newly formed border commune with ethnic minority people accounting for 83.8 per cent of its population.
Despite challenges, the commune recorded encouraging results in 2025.
Total production value reached VNĐ1.35 trillion, meeting the annual target, while average per capita income rose to VNĐ52.72 million. State budget revenue exceeded the assigned estimate by 25.1 per cent.
Agriculture and forestry continued to develop in line with restructuring orientations, with expanded cultivation of high-value crops such as rubber, coffee and medicinal plants.
The commune has met 15 out of 19 new-style rural development criteria, with three villages recognised as meeting rural standards in ethnic minority areas.
Social welfare was ensured, with social insurance coverage reaching 98.4 per cent.
The commune eliminated 53 temporary houses and supported the construction and repair of nine solidarity houses.
The poverty rate fell sharply to 1.38 per cent by the end of 2025, while national defence and security were maintained.
Commending the achievements, Vice Chairman Trần Phước Hiền urged Ya Ly to focus on developing key agricultural products linked with new-style rural development, promote high-value crops, apply science and technology in production, strengthen value-chain linkages, and attract investment in processing and OCOP products.
He also emphasised improving people’s livelihoods, ensuring social security and public order, effectively implementing ethnic and religious policies, and promptly addressing local proposals in accordance with regulations.
During the visit, the Vice Chairman toured several effective agricultural production models in the commune.
