Quảng Ngãi: 2026-2027 Academic Year opens with inauguration of four border boarding schools

Amid nationwide celebrations marking the 81st anniversary of Việt Nam’s National Day and the National Back-to-School Day, Quảng Ngãi held the opening ceremony for the 2026-2027 academic year on September 5 and inaugurated four multi-level boarding schools in the mainland border communes of Dục Nông, Mô Rai, Rờ Kơi and Sa Loong.

The ceremony was held both in person and online, connecting schools nationwide. It was broadcast live on VTV1 and VOV1 and relayed by local radio and television stations. The central venue was Mường Khương Boarding School in Lào Cai Province, where Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng attended the ceremony and officially performed the opening ceremony.

Investment in schools in mainland border communes is a major, strategic and deeply humanitarian policy of the Party and State. It reflects special attention to education in border areas, while contributing to socio-economic development, improving people’s livelihoods, implementing ethnic policies, and strengthening national defense and security.

Following the central policy, Quảng Ngãi implemented the program with strong determination and close coordination. Despite tight construction schedules, remote locations and adverse weather, authorities, armed forces, officials, engineers, workers and local residents worked together to complete the projects in time for the new academic year.

After nearly 10 months of construction, four modern and well-equipped schools built in the first phase in Dục Nông, Mô Rai, Rờ Kơi and Sa Loong have been completed. The new schools provide better learning and living conditions while bringing renewed confidence and opportunities to ethnic communities in the border areas.

Dục Nông: A new school for the new academic year

At the opening and inauguration ceremony at Dục Nông Primary and Secondary Boarding School, attendees included Đoàn Minh Huấn, Politburo member and President of the Hồ Chí Minh National Academy of Politics; Hoàng Phúc Lâm, Deputy President of the Academy; Lieutenant General Trần Minh Đức, Director of the Department of Logistics and Technical Affairs under the Ministry of National Defense; and representatives of central ministries and agencies.

Provincial leaders attending the event included  Hồ Văn Niên, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; former central and provincial leaders; Nguyễn Đức Tâm, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Y Ngọc, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee; and leaders of provincial departments, agencies and localities, together with teachers, students and local residents.

Dục Nông Primary and Secondary Boarding School has a total investment of more than VNĐ221 billion. Built on over 42,500 square meters, it includes classrooms, boarding facilities, a dining hall and supporting facilities, with 47 classes serving approximately 1,600 students. In the 2026-2027 academic year, the school has 1,572 students, including 123 first-graders.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hồ Văn Niên expressed his appreciation for the close direction of the central Party and State, the support of central ministries and agencies, and the efforts of all those involved in completing the project on schedule.

He stressed that modern facilities provide an important foundation, but education quality and effective school operation will ultimately determine whether the school becomes a place to nurture talent and develop knowledge and character among ethnic minority students.

He asked local authorities and the school to quickly stabilize operations, establish proper teaching, learning and boarding routines, and ensure the safe and effective use of facilities and equipment.

Addressing the students, he encouraged them to study hard, respect their teachers, care for their friends and strive to become outstanding citizens who contribute to their homeland and safeguard the Fatherland.

Mô Rai: Better learning and living conditions for border students

At the Mô Rai school site, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm, representatives of provincial departments and agencies, local authorities, teachers, parents and students attended the opening ceremony and inauguration of Mô Rai Primary and Secondary Boarding School.

The school has 30 classrooms and a total investment of more than VNĐ225.7 billion, serving approximately 1,300 students. It includes integrated learning, boarding, living and supporting facilities.

Completed facilities include primary and secondary academic buildings, specialized classrooms, a multi-purpose building, dining facilities, dormitories for students and teachers, and supporting infrastructure. Teaching and living equipment has also been installed.

In the 2026-2027 academic year, the school has approximately 1,300 students, including more than 710 primary and over 560 secondary students. More than 1,000 students are registered for semi-boarding and over 250 for full boarding.

Putting the new school into operation provides a safer and more convenient learning and living environment, helping students attend school with greater peace of mind and supporting the school in improving education quality and student care.

Rờ Kơi: A foundation for better education quality

At the Rờ Kơi school site, the opening ceremony and inauguration of Rờ Kơi Primary and Secondary Boarding School took place in a solemn and joyful atmosphere with the participation of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Công Hoàng.

Built on nearly 48,000 square meters, the school has 40 classrooms and a total investment of more than VNĐ216.6 billion. It includes learning facilities, accommodation and dormitories for students and teachers, living areas and supporting facilities.

The school has 1,156 students in 34 classes for the 2026-2027 academic year, including 20 primary and 14 secondary classes. Nearly 600 students are semi-boarders and more than 250 are full boarders, while the first grade has 134 students.

The new school provides a safer and more convenient learning and living environment and better supports teaching, student care and the management of boarding and semi-boarding students.

Sa Loong and border schools: Investing in the future

At the Sa Loong school site, the opening ceremony and inauguration of Sa Loong Primary and Secondary Boarding School were held simultaneously with ceremonies at other schools across the province. In the 2026-2027 academic year, Sa Loong Primary and Secondary Boarding School welcomes 1,184 students, including 706 primary and 248 secondary students. Of these, 936 are registered for semi-boarding and 248 for full boarding.

The completion and opening of four multi-level boarding schools in the province’s border communes mark an important milestone for education, people’s livelihoods and the development of strong border areas.

The new schools provide better learning and living conditions while contributing to human resource development, strengthening public confidence, and maintaining national defense and security along the Fatherland’s border.

With modern facilities, dedicated teachers and administrators, and the attention of Party committees, authorities and local residents, the four schools are expected to become trusted educational institutions, helping students pursue their dreams and build a brighter future.

In the 2025-2026 academic year, the school achieved a 100 per cent high school graduation rate. Education quality was maintained and improved, while discipline, school order and culture were strengthened. Investment in facilities and teaching equipment also continued.

The 2026-2027 academic year marks the second year of implementing Politburo Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, dated August 22, 2025, on breakthrough development in education and training, and Prime Minister’s Directive No. 31/CT-TTg, dated August 5, 2026, on key tasks for the school year.

Under the theme “Renewed Thinking – Strong Transformation – Substantive Results,” Đức Phổ 2 High School will continue to reform school governance, improve education quality, effectively implement the 2018 General Education Program, innovate teaching methods and focus on comprehensive student development.

At the opening ceremony, teachers and students of Đức Phổ 2 High School joined students nationwide in celebrating the new school year and began the 2026-2027 academic year with determination to fulfill the targets and tasks set out.
