QUẢNG NGÃI — Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm, on Thursday morning inspected local preparedness and response measures for Storm No.13 in Mộ Đức and Mỏ Cày communes.
At Mỏ Cày Commune, the delegation checked coastal aquaculture areas that are at high risk of being directly affected when the storm makes landfall.
By 2 p.m. on the same day, all 621 households with over 1,300 residents had been safely evacuated.
The commune has mobilised on-duty teams working around the clock at key vulnerable locations, and prepared essential materials such as sandbags, bamboo poles and steel nets to reinforce embankments in case of emergency.
Local disaster response teams have been assigned to each village to help residents secure homes and move belongings to safe areas.
In Mộ Đức Commune, evacuation work has been carried out urgently, with 681 households — more than 1,800 people — relocated to safe shelters.
Local authorities have mobilised militia forces and youth union members to help reinforce rooftops, prune trees, and check electrical and irrigation systems to ensure safety before the storm hits.
Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm instructed localities to reinforce embankments, evacuate all workers from production sites, and absolutely prevent people from staying in dangerous areas.
He stressed that authorities must not be complacent and must prioritise the safety of residents above all else.
He also ordered communes to activate their entire political systems, mobilise local police and militia to go door-to-door to encourage and verify that no residents remain in unsafe zones.
Local administrations must maintain close coordination with residential groups and villages, keep updated lists of households in high-risk areas, and ensure timely evacuation to minimise property damage and guarantee safety for all.
