Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, on June 12, met with the Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) to discuss its operations in the first five months of 2025 and to deploy key tasks for the coming time.

Reported by the DoIT, the province's industrial production index for the first five months of 2025 rose by 22.54 per cent compared to the same period last year.
The output of key products all saw significant increases, particularly petrochemical products, which grew by 42.2 per cent, and steel production, which rose by 23.3 per cent over the same period.
The trade and service sector also achieved positive results, with total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reaching nearly VNĐ 36,100 billion, accounting for 43 per cent of the plan and increasing by 12.5 per cent over the same period last year.
Import turnover reached 40.1 per cent of the yearly plan, up 15.4 per cent over the same period last year.

The DoIT is currently implementing 54 tasks, consisting of 29 regular tasks and 25 key tasks.
The DoIT has coordinated with the Department of Home Affairs to complete the organizational structure of the Market Management Department and to arrange the internal organizational structure following regulations, ensuring efficiency and meeting the requirements of tasks in the new period.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, acknowledged and highly appreciated the outstanding results of the sector in the first months of the year.
He said that the Department has proactively worked with the Kon Tum Department of Industry and Trade on the merger of the two Departments.
In the coming time, Hiền asked the Department to advise the Provincial People's Committee in state management of industry and trade, support enterprises and implement policies for industrial development.
Besides, the DoIT should continue to implement mechanisms, policies, plans, programs, and projects related to the fields of import and export, logistics services, trade promotion, e-commerce, and border trade.
The DoIT was asked to advise the Provincial People's Committee on completing the Project of the National Oil Refinery and Energy Center in Dung Quất Economic Zone.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee urged the DoIT to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently complete the Project to merge the two Departments of Industry and Trade of Quảng Ngãi and Kon Tum provinces, draft Regulations on functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the DoIT after the merger.
