QUẢNG NGÃI — Vạn Tường Commune voters raised concerns over support for fishermen, land and resettlement issues, and investment in essential infrastructure at a voter meeting with the Provincial People’s Council delegation on October 7.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền, Deputy Head of the Provincial People’s Council’s Economic and Budget Committee Lê Hoàng Tân, and Secretary of the Đông Sơn Commune Party Committee and Chairman of its People’s Council Nguyễn Tưởng Duy.

Infrastructure was another major concern. Voters called for investment in and upgrading of roads, coastal embankments, and deteriorated reservoirs and dams to improve safety, particularly during the rainy and storm season.
They also proposed measures to regulate traffic during peak hours around schools to improve road safety and facilitate local travel.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trần Phước Hiền speaks at the meeting.
Vice Chairman Trần Phước Hiền said the province would continue studying and proposing solutions to create more favourable conditions for fishermen, particularly as Việt Nam strengthens measures to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
He urged fishermen to strictly comply with regulations governing fishing activities.
Regarding vessel registration and inspection, fishing vessel registration and certification of the origin of caught seafood, he asked relevant agencies to ensure that procedures are handled in accordance with regulations while taking local conditions into account and facilitating legitimate fishing activities.
On disaster prevention and response, the Vice Chairman requested local authorities to proactively prepare response plans and review areas at risk of landslides and flooding to protect people and property.
He also encouraged residents to reinforce their homes and make necessary preparations for storms and floods.
Vice Chairman Trần Phước Hiền asked relevant departments and local authorities to promptly review and resolve issues within their jurisdiction and report matters beyond their authority to the competent agencies for consideration and resolution.
