On April 22, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, chaired a meeting on disease prevention in livestock across the province, with participation from relevant departments and local authorities.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DoAE), as of July 21, African Swine Fever (ASF) had affected 1,685 farms across 243 villages in 34 communes and wards.
A total of 9,610 infected pigs have been culled, weighing over 577 tons.
To prevent further spread and minimize damage to the livestock sector, the provincial government has issued directives calling for urgent and coordinated action from departments and localities.
DoAE also organized two training sessions for 84 officials on outbreak investigation, sampling techniques, and disease management.
In addition, 920 liters of disinfectant and 1,000 doses of ASF vaccine have been distributed.
Vice Chairman Hiền praised the department’s timely coordination and urged local governments to continue strict monitoring of pig populations, especially small-scale farms.
He emphasized the importance of accurate statistics, proper disposal of infected animals, and strong public communication to raise awareness.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment was tasked with prioritizing resources, leading disinfection efforts, and working closely with affected areas to contain the outbreak.
All agencies were instructed to enforce tighter control over pig transportation and slaughtering activities to prevent further spread of the disease.
