The National Assembly’s Economic and Financial Committee meets with Quảng Ngãi leaders
Quảng Ngãi, October 15 – The National Assembly’s Economic and Financial Committee held a working session with the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee on Thursday to review the pre-feasibility study for the proposed Quảng Ngãi–Kon Tum expressway project.
The delegation was led by Nguyễn Minh Sơn, Vice Chairman of the Committee. Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Đức Tâm and Vice Chairman Nguyễn Công Hoàng attended the meeting, along with representatives of relevant departments and local authorities.
According to the pre-feasibility study presented by the Provincial Department of Construction, the proposed expressway would stretch approximately 136.2 kilometres, linking the eastern North–South Expressway in Nguyễn Nghiêm Commune with the western North–South Expressway in Đăk Hà Commune, both in Quảng Ngãi Province.
The road is proposed to have four expressway lanes, with a design speed of 80–100 kilometres per hour. Its preliminary total investment is estimated at VNĐ52.05 trillion.
Participants discussed the project’s feasibility, investment efficiency, funding arrangements, implementation plans, land clearance, compensation and resettlement.
Chairman Nguyễn Đức Tâm stressed the project’s strategic importance to the province and the wider region.
The expressway is expected to strengthen links between the coast, the Central Highlands and border areas, promote regional connectivity and support the development of the East–West Economic Corridor.
He said the province would take the delegation’s recommendations into account and continue refining the project dossier for submission to competent authorities.
The province also pledged to prepare for site clearance, compensation and resettlement, while coordinating closely with relevant ministries and agencies.

Deputy Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee Nguyễn Minh Sơn delivers the concluding remarks at the working session.
Concluding the meeting, Nguyễn Minh Sơn said the expressway was necessary to improve regional connectivity, unlock local development potential and promote socio-economic growth while safeguarding national defence and security.
He asked the province to clarify the project’s investment efficiency, regional spillover effects and links between Đà Nẵng, Quảng Ngãi and Kon Tum, including opportunities to develop the Măng Đen area for tourism and production.
The province was also urged to review the proposed route in light of terrain, geological conditions and climate change; reassess investment costs and funding sources; and ensure that resettlement areas have adequate infrastructure and support residents’ long-term livelihoods.
The provincial authorities were requested to work closely with central ministries and relevant agencies to finalise the project dossier for submission to the Government and subsequent consideration by the National Assembly Standing Committee.
