Recently, Vietnam Airlines, in coordination with the Authority of Dung Quất Economic Zone (EZ) and Provincial Industrial Parks (IPs) (the Authority), organized a conference themed “Expanding Cooperation and Supporting Enterprises in Dung Quất EZ and Quảng Ngãi IPs”.
The event connected around 70 import-export enterprises with a combined export value of approximately US$ 2 billion to logistics companies.
It brought together Lương Kim Sơn, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Head of the Authority, provincial department leaders, representatives of business associations, and more than 200 enterprises operating in transport, logistics, and aviation.
At the conference, businesses introduced cargo and passenger transport services, as well as solutions to reduce logistics costs and enhance competitiveness.
Participants committed to regional cooperation, market expansion, production and export support, and facilitating the mobility of domestic and international experts and workers in Dung Quất EZ and Provincial IPs.
Currently, Dung Quất EZ and Provincial IPs host 346 operating enterprises in sectors including heavy industry, machinery, steel production, textiles, food processing, fisheries, and wood manufacturing.
Together, they provide jobs for nearly 80,000 workers, including 52 FDI projects employing about 45,000 people.
The area contributes over 80 per cent of Quảng Ngãi’s provincial budget revenue, serving as a key driver of economic growth.
Representatives of Vietnam Airlines highlighted the airline’s role not only in passenger transport but also as a reliable partner in cargo logistics.
In the first eight months of 2025, the airline operated nearly 107,800 flights, serving over 17 million passengers and transporting more than 224,000 tons of cargo—up 11 per cent, 12 per cent, and 15 per cent year-on-year, respectively.
Vietnam Airlines currently operates 69 international routes to 37 destinations in 21 countries and territories, along with 38 domestic routes covering 22 local destinations.
Speaking at the conference, Lương Kim Sơn emphasized the significance of the event in anticipating new trends in logistics and contributing to Quảng Ngãi’s development goals.
The province aims to become a relatively well-developed locality by 2030, as set out in the Provincial Party Congress Resolution for the 2025–2030 term.
He also called on Vietnam Airlines to continue supporting air cargo transport, consider increasing flight frequencies on Chu Lai–Hà Nội–Hồ Chí Minh City routes, and expand international connections to meet growing demand.
Provincial agencies were instructed to further assist enterprises, particularly in technological innovation and digital transformation in logistics, while closely coordinating with Vietnam Airlines and logistics partners to optimize transport costs and boost import-export capacity.
On this occasion, Vietnam Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bình Sơn Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) to strengthen cooperation in passenger and cargo transport as well as tourism and trade promotion.
