QUẢNG NGÃI — In response to severe landslides triggered by prolonged heavy rain across mountainous areas of the province, Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Công Hoàng on October 28 conducted an on-site inspection of landslide sites along Provincial Road 622B, passing through Tây Trà Bồng Commune.
In recent days, continuous downpours from October 25 to 28 have caused serious landslides in many parts of the commune.

More than 30 large and small landslide spots have been recorded, particularly along the section of Provincial Road 622B from Eo Chim Pass to the Tây Trà Bồng Commune People’s Committee.
Large volumes of soil and rock have buried sections of the road, blocking traffic and disrupting residents’ travel.
Rising river and stream levels also pose a continued risk of further landslides in the coming days.
Local authorities and construction units are currently mobilising equipment to clear debris and reopen the affected routes.

During the inspection, Vice Chairman Hoàng emphasised that, according to forecasts, rainfall in the next two days remains unpredictable and could trigger additional landslides at any time.
He instructed the provincial Department of Construction and relevant agencies to promptly implement urgent measures to stabilise the situation, clear blocked roads, and install warning signs and barriers to ensure traffic safety for local residents.
He also warned that although some smaller landslides appear less severe, local authorities must not be complacent.
They were urged to maintain 24-hour on-site monitoring teams, set up warning signs at all hazardous locations, and immediately close traffic routes showing signs of danger to protect lives and property.
To safeguard residents, Vice Chairman Hoàng directed local authorities to prepare evacuation plans for households living in high-risk areas and to closely monitor weather developments, providing timely information and guidance to help people take proactive safety measures.
