HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, Head of the State Steering Committee for key national projects in the transport sector, chaired the committee’s 21st meeting.

Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Giang and leaders of provincial departments attended the session via video conference from Quảng Ngãi.

At the 20th meeting on September 10, 2025, the Prime Minister assigned 30 tasks to ministries, sectors, and localities to address obstacles and accelerate preparations for project commencements scheduled for December 19, 2025.

So far, eight tasks have been completed on schedule, 21 are being implemented, and one related to site clearance remains behind schedule.

Regarding expressway projects planned for completion in 2025 to meet the goal of having 3,000 km of expressways nationwide, localities have actively accelerated site clearance, licensing and expanding construction material mines, ensuring sufficient supply and progress.

To date, the country has completed 2,476 km of expressways, while the remaining 733 km across 22 component projects are under active construction.

At the meeting, the Ministry of Construction, relevant ministries, agencies, and localities reported on progress, existing difficulties, and proposed measures to expedite project implementation.

In Quảng Ngãi Province, major national transport projects include the compensation, support, and resettlement sub-project for the Quảng Ngãi – Hoài Nhơn section of the North–South Expressway (2021–2025 phase), and the high-speed railway project along the North–South corridor through the province.

The sub-project’s main route compensation has been fully completed, with adjustments and supplementary areas underway.

In his concluding remarks, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính praised ministries, sectors, localities, and contractors for their efforts in implementing key transport projects.

He urged all stakeholders to maintain the highest determination to accelerate progress on national priority projects, particularly the 3,000 km expressway and 1,700 km coastal road targets.

The Prime Minister requested ministries and localities to strengthen supervision, promptly resolve arising issues, and ensure clear accountability — problems within a level’s authority must be handled immediately, without delays or avoidance.

Weekly reports on construction progress, disbursement, and problem-solving are required, along with timely commendations for outstanding performance and strict handling of delays.

Provinces including Nghệ An, Quảng Trị, Quảng Ngãi, and Cao Bằng are tasked with coordinating with the Government Office to complete pre-feasibility study reports for the Cam Lộ – Lao Bảo, Quảng Ngãi – Kon Tum, and Bắc Kạn – Cao Bằng expressway projects, and submit them for investment policy approval by December 2025.
