Vice Chairman Nguyễn Công Hoàng attends National Digital Transformation Day 2025 celebration

Việt Nam marked National Digital Transformation Day 2025 with a nationwide event highlighting achievements in digital infrastructure, e-Government, and digital economy development over the past five years.

QUẢNG NGÃI — The Ministry of Science and Technology held a ceremony on October 21 to celebrate National Digital Transformation Day 2025, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Chí Dũng, along with leaders of central ministries, sectors, and localities at the main venue and local connection points.

Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Công Hoàng attended the event from the Quảng Ngãi bridge point.

After five years of implementing the National Digital Transformation Program, Việt Nam has achieved remarkable progress in building its digital infrastructure.

Broadband telecommunications networks now cover 99.3 per cent of villages and hamlets nationwide, while the average mobile internet speed has reached 146.64 Mbps, ranking 20th in the world.

The 5G network has been launched and currently covers 26 per cent of populated areas.

Việt Nam’s digital government has made strong strides, with the rate of fully online administrative procedures rising to nearly 40 per cent — a ninefold increase compared to 2019.

The country’s UN e-Government ranking has also improved by 15 places compared to the 2022 assessment.

The digital economy continues to play a pivotal role in national growth.

In 2024, information and communications technology (ICT) industry revenues reached approximately VNĐ 2.772 quadrillion (US$ 118 billion), up 24 per cent year-on-year, while hardware and electronics exports increased by 29 per cent.

The digital sector has become a key driver of economic expansion.

Several national digital platforms are now operational, including the National Population Database, the National Public Service Portal, and the digital identity and authentication infrastructure, providing a foundation for safe and convenient electronic transactions for citizens and businesses.

Việt Nam’s digital transformation policy framework has also been strengthened through the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and subsequent programs and action plans issued by the Government, ministries, and localities, creating a consistent legal environment for comprehensive digitalization.

Entering the 2026–2030 period, Việt Nam aims to advance digital transformation in a more in-depth and results-oriented manner, focusing on converting digital achievements into economic growth, productivity, and national competitiveness.

Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Chí Dũng emphasized that digital transformation is an inevitable trend and a crucial driving force for Việt Nam’s rapid and sustainable development in the digital era.

He urged ministries, sectors, and localities to uphold the principle of “people and businesses at the center, as both the subject and the driving force of digital transformation”, and to further integrate digital technologies across governance, production, and social life.

He called on the Ministry of Science and Technology and relevant agencies to enhance data sharing and connectivity, promote the development of a digital economy, digital society, and digital citizens, and align digital transformation with knowledge-based economic growth, innovation, and green transition.

The Deputy Prime Minister also underscored the need to develop high-quality digital human resources, ensure cybersecurity, and proactively adopt emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

He called on the business community, organizations, and individuals to actively participate in building a national digital ecosystem, contributing to the goal of making Việt Nam a developed, safe, human-centered, and sustainable digital nation by 2030.
