On July 10, the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Red Cross Society held its first Provincial Congress for the 2026–2031 term under the theme "Solidarity – Innovation – Professionalism – Humanity."

Addressing the congress, Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People's Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm acknowledged the significant achievements of the Provincial Red Cross Society during the previous term, highlighting its contributions to social welfare and humanitarian activities.

He called on the Society to comprehensively review its performance, identify effective models and innovative approaches, and set practical goals aligned with the province's development priorities and the Resolution of the First Provincial Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term.
He also urged the Society to strengthen its role in coordinating humanitarian activities, mobilize more social resources, expand partnerships with businesses and charitable organizations, and accelerate digital transformation to improve membership management, fundraising and the implementation of humanitarian programs in a transparent and efficient manner.

The Quảng Ngãi Provincial Red Cross Society currently has more than 30,600 members, over 31,100 youth members and 1,833 volunteers. During the 2021–2026 term, its humanitarian activities reached a total value of more than VNĐ 403.4 billion, benefiting over 907,000 people through programs such as "Humanitarian Tết," "Humanitarian Month," voluntary blood donation, healthcare, livelihood support, and disaster prevention and response.
For the 2026–2031 term, the Society aims to provide training for all Red Cross officials and volunteer team leaders, establish Red Cross volunteer teams in all communes, wards and special administrative zones, expand Red Cross organizations in at least 70 per cent of schools, develop sustainable humanitarian assistance models in every locality, ensure sufficient voluntary blood donations to meet emergency and treatment needs, establish additional voluntary blood donation clubs, organize first-aid teams at the grassroots level, and increase humanitarian resource mobilization by at least 5 per cent annually.

At the congress, U Huấn, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee, was elected Honorary President of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Red Cross Society for the 2026–2031 term.

Delegates also elected the Executive Committee of the Provincial Red Cross Society and re-elected Phạm Ngọc Thành as President for the new term. Additionally, a delegation of nine official and two alternate delegates was chosen to attend the 12th National Congress of the Việt Nam Red Cross Society.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to one collective and six individuals for their outstanding contributions to Red Cross activities during the 2021–2026 term.
