On July 14, Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People's Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm held a working session with the Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs to review its performance in the first half of 2026 and discuss key tasks for the remainder of the year.

During the first six months of 2026, the Department coordinated with relevant agencies and local authorities to implement ethnic and religious policies and ensure the timely execution of assigned tasks.
Under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021–2025 period, efforts focused on poverty reduction, livelihood support, production development and infrastructure investment. The poverty rate in ethnic minority and mountainous areas continued to decline by an average of 3–4 per cent annually.
The province also completed and put into operation 26 of 28 residential resettlement projects, benefiting 9,651 households, while disbursing more than VNĐ 67 billion.
For the second half of the year, the Department will continue implementing ethnic policies, accelerate the National Target Program, strengthen state management of religious affairs, and proactively address issues arising at the grassroots level.
Participants at the meeting discussed measures to overcome challenges, including slow capital disbursement, improving coordination among agencies and localities and promoting collective economic models and cooperatives in ethnic minority communities. They also focused on enhancing public awareness of social order and security, addressing issues related to land of religious origin, and preparing funding plans for the next implementation phase.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm requested the Department to continue effectively implementing ethnic, religious and social welfare policies, proactively advise on appropriate development policies, strengthen state management, reinforce national unity, maintain social order and security, and accelerate the disbursement of allocated funds to ensure the effective implementation of assigned programs and tasks.
