As part of the 500-Day Campaign to Intensify the Search, Recovery and Identification of Martyrs’ Remains, the Đăk Pék Commune Military Command has continued working with the Farmers’ Association, Veterans’ Association, Youth Union, local militia forces and residents to expand search and excavation efforts for martyrs’ remains in the area.
On August 4, the search team recovers martyrs’ remains in the Village16/5 area
On August 4, at the former Đăk Dung Village (now Village 16/5), Đăk Pék Commune, the search team recovered five additional sets of martyrs’ remains. Numerous personal artifacts were also recovered, including backpacks, canvas shoes, canteens, belts, daggers, lighters and other belongings, providing valuable evidence for the identification of the fallen soldiers.
As of August 4, 2026, a total of nine sets of martyrs’ remains have been recovered at the site. Earlier, by August 2, four sets of remains had been found.
The recovered remains have been transferred to the holding facility of the Đăk Pék Commune Military Command for preservation while procedures are completed for verification, forensic examination, memorial services and reburial.
Throughout the operation, all participating forces have strictly complied with technical procedures and safety regulations. The results reflect the proactive role of the Đăk Pék Commune Military Command, the close coordination among local authorities and relevant forces, and the strong support of local residents.
The operation is a meaningful tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes and demonstrates Việt Nam’s enduring tradition of gratitude toward those who sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom.
