Inter-agency task force established to support Quảng Ngãi Steering Committee in searching for and identifying fallen soldiers’ remains

The Head of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Steering Committee for the Search, Recovery and Identification of Fallen Soldiers’ Remains has issued Decision No. 135/QĐ-BCĐ dated July 22, 2026, establishing an inter-agency task force to support the implementation of the “500-Day Campaign to Accelerate the Search, Recovery and Identification of Fallen Soldiers’ Remains.”

Under the decision, the task force is headed by Senior Colonel Trịnh Công Sơn, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command and a member of the Provincial Steering Committee. Nguyễn Hữu Dũng, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs and a member of the Steering Committee, serves as Deputy Head. Members include representatives of provincial departments, agencies, the armed forces, local authorities, and other relevant organizations.

The task force comprises three specialized teams: the Information Collection and Decoding Team, the Field Operations Team, and the Excavation Team. These teams bring together specialists from relevant agencies, the military, police, local authorities, and eyewitness groups to enhance the effectiveness of search and recovery operations.

The task force is responsible for advising the Provincial Steering Committee on directing and coordinating the collection and processing of information on martyrs’ burial sites; organizing surveys, verification, site investigations, excavations, recovery operations, and the identification of fallen soldiers’ remains across the province. It will also assist in implementing directives issued by the Head of the Steering Committee and monitor and supervise the implementation of assigned tasks by relevant agencies and localities.

The task force is also responsible for consolidating implementation results and advising the Provincial Steering Committee in reporting to the National Steering Committee, the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 5, and other competent authorities in accordance with regulations, as well as performing other duties assigned by the Head of the Provincial Steering Committee.
