Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Trần Phước Hiền has signed Official Letter No. 1861/UBND-CNXD, requesting stronger food safety management in food production and trade under the responsibility of the Department of Industry and Trade, in line with the province’s two-tier local government model.
The directive requires agencies, units, and localities to strictly and effectively implement instructions from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on combating smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and violations of intellectual property rights.
Leaders must take responsibility for ensuring food safety within their areas of management.
Authorities are tasked with promoting public awareness among citizens, small traders, and businesses on how to identify counterfeit or substandard food, consumer rights, and notable local violations.
Information should be disseminated via local media, political and social organizations, and included in food safety newsletters and websites.
The PPC also directed relevant units to intensify inspections—both targeted campaigns and regular checks—focusing on high-consumption products prone to counterfeiting such as vegetable oil, powdered milk, and other foods under the trade sector’s management.
Violations must be promptly detected and strictly handled, including suspension of operations, administrative penalties, and transferring cases to investigation agencies when necessary.
