Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Y Ngọc on Monday afternoon (November 4) inspected post-storm damage and recovery efforts in Đăk Plô Commune, urging local authorities to stay vigilant and be fully prepared for the approaching Storm No.13.
According to reports, from October 25 to November 4, prolonged heavy rains triggered landslides and flooding in several areas, damaging transportation, irrigation works, and homes.
Forty-six households with more than 180 residents were evacuated to safe locations, while several houses collapsed and four villages were isolated for days.
To cope with the situation, Đăk Plô Commune mobilised all local resources, including machinery and on-site forces, to clear blocked roads and waterways, restore vital traffic routes, and deliver essential supplies to residents.
Relief operations, hazard warnings, and infrastructure repairs have been carried out promptly, reflecting the unity and resilience of local communities in responding to natural disasters.
Vice Chairwoman Y Ngọc praised the efforts of local authorities, armed forces, and residents in overcoming storm consequences.
She instructed the commune to urgently repair landslide sites, reopen access to isolated villages, and monitor high-risk areas to ensure timely evacuation of people to safe shelters.
She asked localities to secure adequate food, essential goods, and temporary shelters for affected households; reinforce homes, schools, and communication systems; and maintain constant readiness of functional forces to assist residents in critical areas.
She also urged relevant departments to support production recovery and promote the development of local cold-climate coffee models to help stabilise livelihoods and restore economic activity after the storms.
On this occasion, Vice Chairwoman Y Ngọc presented gifts to the Party Committee, People’s Committee, and local forces of Đăk Plô Commune in recognition of their efforts in overcoming storm impacts.
