Quảng Ngãi delegation seeks stronger ties with Vietnamese Embassy in France

PARIS — A high-level delegation from central Việt Nam's Quảng Ngãi Province met with the Embassy of Việt Nam in France on July 8 to strengthen cooperation and promote investment, trade and technological partnerships between the province and French partners.

The delegation was led by Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. They were received by Trịnh Đức Hải, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Việt Nam to France, along with embassy officials.

Chairman Giang thanked the Embassy for its continued support in fostering the traditional friendship and expanding cooperation between Việt Nam and France across political, economic, trade, investment, science, technology, education and cultural fields.

He also commended the Embassy's efforts in protecting Vietnamese citizens and supporting the Vietnamese community in France, describing it as a trusted bridge connecting overseas Vietnamese with their homeland while promoting Việt Nam's image and culture internationally.

During the meeting, Chairman Giang introduced Quảng Ngãi's development potential following the recent provincial restructuring.

The province now comprises 96 commune-level administrative units, covers nearly 15,000 square kilometres and is home to more than 2.1 million people from 43 ethnic groups.

Quảng Ngãi boasts a 130-kilometre coastline and a maritime area of around 11,000 square kilometres, providing direct access to international shipping routes across the East Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It also borders Laos and Cambodia through the East–West Economic Corridor, linking Dung Quất Economic Zone on the coast with Bờ Y International Border Gate Economic Zone, two strategic drivers of regional development.

The province's economy maintained solid momentum in the first half of 2026, with gross regional domestic product (GRDP) estimated at more than VNĐ74 trillion, up 8.55 per cent year-on-year.

France remains an important export market for Quảng Ngãi. Key exports include footwear, frozen breaded shrimp, wooden furniture, optical lenses and lens moulds, while imports from France mainly consist of machinery, industrial equipment, components and raw materials for steel production.

Chairman Giang highlighted the investment opportunities at Dung Quất Economic Zone, home to one of Việt Nam's major deep-water ports.

Cargo throughput reached approximately 50 million tonnes in 2025, underscoring the port's growing role in regional and international logistics.

He called on the Embassy to help promote Quảng Ngãi's investment environment to French authorities, businesses and investors, while supporting the establishment of cooperation between Quảng Ngãi and a French locality.

The province also hopes to attract French investment into VSIP Quảng Ngãi and VSIP II Quảng Ngãi, with a focus on high-tech industries such as semiconductors, integrated circuits and artificial intelligence (AI).

Chairman Giang further proposed strengthening cooperation with French innovation centres to advance science and technology, digital transformation and innovation.

He also expressed interest in connecting with French maritime and port operators to exchange expertise and explore opportunities to develop Dung Quất into an international transshipment hub.

In addition, Quảng Ngãi seeks the Embassy's support in expanding trade links between local and French businesses and identifying distribution channels in France for the province's signature products, including Ngọc Linh ginseng, cinnamon, Lý Sơn garlic and internationally certified organic agricultural products.

The Chairman also invited the Embassy to assist Quảng Ngãi in organising investment and trade promotion activities in France, particularly with businesses seeking opportunities in the Vietnamese market.
