During a working visit to Sweden from June 24–27, 2026, a Quảng Ngãi provincial delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền held a series of meetings and discussions with Swedish partners to promote cooperation in science and technology, digital transformation, and innovation.

At the meetings, the delegation introduced Quảng Ngãi’s key strengths and development potential. Covering an area of more than 14,800 sq.km and home to over 2.16 million people, the province is considered strategically positioned due to its combination of coastal, lowland, highland, and international border areas.
Under its development orientation for the 2026–2030 period, Quảng Ngãi aims to maintain average annual GRDP growth of over 10 per cent, while per capita income is projected to reach approximately US$6,900–7,000 by 2030. Notably, the digital economy is expected to contribute at least 30 per cent of the province's total GRDP.
To achieve these goals, the province has identified digital transformation, green transition, and energy transition as key development pillars, while prioritizing investment projects in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, smart supply chains, and clean energy.

Quảng Ngãi is currently implementing digital transformation across three core areas: digital government, digital economy, and digital society. Key initiatives include expanding online public services, digitizing data systems, promoting e-commerce applications, cashless payments, electronic medical records, and improving digital skills among citizens.
Alongside its progress, the province also recognizes challenges, including disparities in digital transformation levels across regions, limitations in technological infrastructure in remote areas, and shortages of high-quality technology professionals.
As part of the visit, the delegation exchanged views with Swedish partners on a range of issues, including digital government development, data-driven governance models, research in artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, edge computing, and innovation startup ecosystems.
Quảng Ngãi also expressed its interest in collaborating with Swedish technology enterprises in developing digital data ecosystems and applying AI and IoT in management systems. The province also invited investors to explore opportunities in Dung Quất Economic Zone, particularly in green transition, education, healthcare, and tourism.

Beyond expanding international relations, the working visit is expected to create new momentum for Quảng Ngãi to access advanced development models, accelerate digital transformation, and enhance competitiveness in its next phase of development.
