Vice Chairman Trần Phước Hiền works with Department of Agriculture and Environment on Mid-Year Review

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, chaired a working session with the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DoAE) on July 8 to review the key tasks completed in the first half of 2025 and discuss plans for the remaining six months.

DoAE’s Director Hồ Trọng Phương stated that the entire sector, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and environmental protection achieved significant results.

As of June 30, 2025, total production value was estimated at over VNĐ 12.9 trillion, a 3.24  per cent increase year-on-year. Specifically, agriculture grew by 2.31 per cent, forestry by 7.45 per cent, and fisheries by 4.07 per cent.

Food output reached over 305,000 tons, achieving 98.9 per cent of the same period last year and 52 per cent of the annual plan.

Over 161 hectares of crops met VietGAP standards, and high-tech farming models helped increase yields and farmers’ incomes.

Fisheries continued to grow, with an exploited yield of over 152,200 tons. Aquaculture areas exceeded 182.5 per cent of the annual plan, with over 8,010 tons harvested.

Forest coverage in the province reached nearly 60 per cent, with a total area of over 948,900 hectares.

Currently, 642 OCOP products remain valid, including 2 five-star, 48 four-star, and 592 three-star products. As of June 30, 2025, the province had 149 communes meeting new rural standards (65.06 per cent), along with 22 advanced and 4 exemplary new rural communes.

Land management has been further strengthened. The issuance of land use rights and property ownership certificates has been accelerated. Planning and land-use approvals are being streamlined to align with local development goals.

Mining activities are under stricter control, with increased inspections to prevent illegal exploitation. Pollution control measures have been enhanced, with several wastewater and solid waste treatment projects now operational.

Concluding the session, Vice Chairman Trần Phước Hiền praised the achievements and dedication of the Department's leadership and staff, especially following the departmental merger.

He urged the Department to review and address pending tasks, focus on key priorities for the rest of 2025, and accelerate decentralization and digital transformation.

Emphasis was also placed on enhancing rural development criteria, controlling crop and livestock diseases, timely vaccination efforts, and expediting land-use planning, land pricing, and database development.
