Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Trần Phước Hiền on September 17 chaired a meeting to review the proposed plan for creating a stable freshwater supply for Lý Sơn Island and to resolve obstacles for the high-tech pig farming project in Khánh Cường commune.

The freshwater plan, prepared by the Department of Agriculture and Environment, aims to build a storage and supply system with a capacity of 1,150 m³ per day, serving 11,000 residents and irrigating 32 hectares of farmland.

The project, with an estimated investment of VNĐ 250 billion, is scheduled for 2026–2029.

Vice Chairman Hiền emphasized the need for a sustainable, long-term water solution aligned with development plans for Lý Sơn as a marine tourism hub.

Regarding the high-tech pig farm project, invested by Bình Minh Co., Ltd. with a capacity of 2,400 sows and 12,000 pigs per year, progress has stalled due to land-related legal issues despite site clearance being completed.

The PPC requested local authorities and departments to finalize land-use reviews by November 15, 2025, and guide the investor in extending investment approval.

The investor is required to apply modern technology, ensure environmental safety, and accelerate project implementation to contribute to local socio-economic growth.
