Quảng Ngãi pushes for cashless payments across sectors

QUẢNG NGÃI, Sept. 23 – The Provincial People’s Committee has issued Directive No. 2527/UBND-KTTH to implement the Prime Minister’s order on promoting cashless payments nationwide.

Under the directive, local agencies and authorities are required to integrate non-cash payment initiatives into their plans and programs.

Ward and commune-level People’s Committees will step up communication at community meetings to raise awareness among officials, workers, and residents.

Provincial departments and agencies are tasked with ensuring compliance.

The State Treasury, Department of Finance, and provincial Tax Office will strengthen oversight of tax collection and public payments, penalizing violations involving cash transactions intended to evade taxes.

The Social Security Office and Department of Home Affairs will expand digital payment infrastructure for social welfare programs, including pensions and allowances, encouraging beneficiaries to voluntarily receive payments via bank accounts.

Schools will partner with commercial banks to guide parents in using safe electronic payment methods for tuition and fees.

The Department of Science and Technology, in cooperation with police and banks, will raise public awareness of online fraud risks.

The State Bank’s local branch will monitor credit institutions and promote lower transaction fees.

Commercial banks are encouraged to expand services, ensure safety and accessibility, and reach underserved groups such as rural residents, students, and small businesses.
