Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, conducted an on-site inspection of a section of National Highway 24 in Măng Đen Commune where the road surface had heaved and developed cracks.
At Km112+200, the road surface had risen by about 1.2m and a crack approximately 100m long had formed, allowing traffic to pass through only half of the carriageway.
The width of the heaved section measured roughly 5.5m from the upper talus foot, narrowing the roadway and posing risks to traffic safety.
National Highway 24 is a vital transport route connecting central Quảng Ngãi Province, Dung Quất Port and National Highway 1 with the Hồ Chí Minh Road, the northern Central Highlands and southern Lao provinces.
With high traffic volume, especially freight transport, repairs on this route need to be carried out urgently and comprehensively to ensure safe and uninterrupted travel.
After inspecting the site, Chairman Nguyễn Hoàng Giang instructed the Department of Construction to promptly coordinate with relevant agencies, units and local authorities to implement immediate remedial measures and restore the road surface as soon as possible to ensure traffic safety.
The Department of Construction was directed to mobilise additional personnel, equipment and materials to repair the heaved and cracked sections, while also monitoring the entire route to prevent further safety risks.
